Stirling Hogmanay Celebrations 2009 bringing in 2010

Join one of the brightest and best Hogmanay parties in the country to see in the New Year on the Esplanade of Stirling Castle.Our combination of fantastic live music, a unique, dramatic backdrop, a fun, friendly atmosphere and a great firework finale all make Stirling’s Hogmanay the only place to be at the Bells.

Central FM’s DJs will get the party started at 9.00 pm. Sandi Thom and X-Factor reality TV star favourites, The MacDonald Brothers will join Freddie Mercury performer, Gary Mullen, who won ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ to rock towards midnight.And as 2009 turns into 2010, mass pipes and drums will cross the castle drawbridge and the night sky will be illuminated by thousands of fireworks.

The event will also include a countdown to the bells and a fireworks display high above the Castle at midnight. Event ends by 1am. Tickets are now on sale from the Albert Halls (01786 473544), Tolbooth (01786 27 4000), Macrobert (01786 466666) and Ticketmaster (0870 534 4444). Tickets can also be bought online here. On Hogmanay, The Albert Halls and Macrobert will be open until 5pm. Fireworks burst above Stirling Castle at midnightTickets are priced at £25 each. A family ticket comprising 2 adults and 2 children is available at £80.. It is a standing concert; no seating provided. Access for up to 16 wheelchair users is available. Each wheelchair user can have one companion with them. Everyone must have a ticket!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS… AND ANSWERS…

We do not recommend this event for children under 8 years old. If customers insist on bringing younger children, they should be advised that bringing pushchairs and buggies into a fully standing arena is not advisable and that they may be surrounded by people dancing.

ALL children must hold a ticket. Everyone on the Esplanade needs a ticket in order that numbers can be monitored for health & safety reasons. Children need the same amount of space as an adult – this is how the capacity is worked out for the Esplanade. No-one will be allowed on to the Esplanade without a ticket. BAR AND FOOD A licensed bar will be available on the Esplanade. Drinks will be sold in plastic glasses. All ticket holders should be reminded that ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS will be permitted on the Esplanade. Access to patrons with glass and festive cheer will be denied. There will also be hot food and hot drinks available. ROAD CLOSURES Ballangeich Road, Upper and Lower Castle Hill and the upper part of Barn Road will be closed from 12 noon on 31st December until 6am on 1st January. Spittal Street, St John Street, Broad Street and Castle Wynd will be closed from 8pm on 31st December until 6am on 1st January. PARKING The Thistle Marches Car Park will be open and FREE from 6.30pm on 31st December. Other available parking in the town includes Viewforth, Linden Avenue, Burghmuir Road, Dalgleish Road, Rainbow Slides and some on street parking but some of this may be paid parking. DISABLED ACCESS Seating for registered disabled ticket holders is from a special viewing platform. This platform allows for a maximum 16 wheelchair users each with one companion. Access times to the actual Esplanade Arena will be as for other members of the audience. Access by vehicle for dropping off registered disabled persons is up to 8.30pm on 31st December and can be by either the Ballangeich Road or Spittal Street routes.

Please be advised that in order to gain access through the road closures, persons should be carrying both their event ticket and their registered disabled badge with them. Vehicles must then leave the Esplanade and park outside the road closure. The Visitor Centre will be available for use by disabled ticket holders prior to and immediately after the event and will be manned by a steward. Vehicle collection of disabled ticket holders will only be permitted at such time as the police deem it safe to access.

CANCELLATION POLICY In the event of bad weather, a decision to proceed or not will be made at the site meeting convened at 6pm on 31st December. Information will then be given out as soon as possible via radio and websites if it is cancelled. Refunds will then be available from the point of sale after Monday 5th January, but will only be given in the event of a cancellation, or at the discretion of management.
